Hardball Locker Room Gets Overhaul Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, 3:45 pm
The baseball locker room received a complete overhaul with new lockers, a pair of 60-inch flat screen TVs, along with new furniture and carpeting.
Athletic Complex update Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, 9:04 am
The steel framework for the athletic complex is taking shape. This Photo Gallery was taken about a week ago and shows the skeleton about half-way complete. The primary arch that will dominate the front facade of the facility has also been put into place since the gallery so we will make an effort to get a more current gallery next week.
Restroom/Concessions Update At Provost Umphrey Stadium Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, 4:46 pm
The new restroom/concessions buildings on the west concourse of Provost Umphrey Stadium are almost completely enclosed. Once work on those three structures is completed, workers will be able to move to the east concourse for similar structures and amenities.
Moving Time For Women's Soccer Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, 1:22 pm
Head coach Dewi Hardman has begun moving into the recently completed Lamar Soccer Complex building. The facility has office space for coach Hardman and his staff, home and visitor locker rooms, an athletic training room and a receptions area. As soon as they have everything in tip-top shape we will throw a gallery up for everyone enjoyment.
Athletic Complex Looking Like An Erector Set Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, 12:00 pm
The concrete slab for the athletic complex is completely poured and the steel has started rising. Look for a photo gallery in the next couple of weeks.
Bleachers Going Up Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, 1:02 pm
The concrete has been poured and the two sections of permanent seating at the Lamar Soccer Complex are taking shape. Click Here for pictures of the installation.
The perimeter fence is also in the installation stages and should be finished by the middle of next week.
Soccer Sod Going Down Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, 1:02 pm
Friday was a big day over at the Lamar Soccer Complex as the natural grass playing surface was installed. Click Here for pictures of the installation.
The seating is expected to be installed next week and the perimiter fencing should be in place as well.
Football Practice Facility Looking Sharp Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, 9:55 am
The football practice facility has been receiving upgrades just like many of the other athletic facilities around campus. New sod was laid on the new field that is on an East-West orientation a couple of weeks ago, and the area between the two fields has a new open-air pavilion that will be completed soon. In preparation for the start of practice later today, the field was lined and prepped for football season. Click Here for pictures from Tuesday's visit to the fields.
Soccer Complex Building Taking Shape Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, 7:50 am
Work began in earnest on Friday in regards to the building at the Lamar Soccer Complex as crews began erecting the steel beams for the structure. The sod is now expected to be put in place later this week. Workers were also grading the areas for the concrete walkways and prepping the area for the two sets of bleachers that will be located at midfield on the west side of the facility. The web cam developed a short circuit when the power was cut off and then on again a few weeks ago and had to be sent back to the manufacturer for repairs. We promise that as soon as it is back we will have it up and running in time for to cover the complete turf installation and the ongoing renovations to Provost Umphrey Stadium and the construction of the Athletic Complex.
Locker Room Coming Along Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, 3:50 pm
The football team was in need of a locker room for the first year while the Athletic Complex gets built. They found a temporary home in the Montagne Center where approximately 60 red metal lockers are being constructed. Montagne Center staff and a few early football arrivals have been assembling the lockers and moving them down the hall into the rooms.

Football Equipment Arrives Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, 3:55 pm
While work is underway on the facilities that will be used by the football coaches and student-athletes, unpacking has begun on what the coaches and student-athletes will wear during their practices as the initial wave of clothes and equipment was delivered to campus.
Coaches and staff have started the process of taking inventory and sorting out the various items in the temporary equpment room. Some of these include helmets, shoulder pads, practice uniforms and shoes, among other things. Click Here for an overview of the unpacking process.
Stadium Construction Update Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, 11:02 am
If you have driven by Provost Umphrey Stadium anytime in the past few weeks you have probably noticed quite a bit of work being done on the renovation of the facility. Construction crews have been cutting up the concrete to make room for new disabled seating areas, as required to fall within ADA compliance. Prep work has been ongoing for the renovation and construction of what will be six freestanding buidlings on both the east and west concourses that will house new concessions and restrooms.

Work on restoring connectivity to the web cam should be finished later this week or early next week.
Soccer Field Nearing Home Stretch Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, 8:30 am
Work on the new soccer complex has been moving along well. The four light towers were hung over a five-hour stretch on Thursday and crews had begun using three bobcat front-end loaders to lay the 10 inches of beige sand that will act as the root base for the natural grass field. After that, the city of Beaumont will tap the water line and the strips of sod will be put in place.

You can also see that quite a bit of work on below-ground work for the building that will house the coaches offices, locker rooms, concessions, ticket office and restrooms has been accomplished.
Web Cam Questions Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, 3:22 pm
Some of you have asked what is going on with the web cam atop Provost Umphrey Stadium... well, unfortunately the power to the press box was turned off so the construction crews could continue cutting up the concrete in the grandstand and west concourse. We are working to get power restored as quickly as possible but please bear with us. We will have a fresh photo gallery of the soccer and football projects later this week and weekend so please check back.
Athletic Complex Construction Underway Monday, July 6, 2009, 9:27 am
Construction on the new Lamar Athletic Complex got underway just after 8 a.m. when parts of the south end of J.B. Higgins Field House began to come down. The construction crews were carefully separating the metal parts of the building from the other materials to make the disposal process more efficient.
