Lamar University President James Simmons dedicated the Dauphin Athletic Complex on Oct. 19, 2011, in recognition of a $2 million gift to the university's Investing in the Future campaign from Charline and Robin Dauphin and in memory of Sidney "Chief" Dauphin.

The 54,000-square-foot Dauphin Athletic Complex, which sits just south of Provost Umphrey Stadium, opened in August 2010 as Lamar University prepared for its first season of Cardinals football in 21 years.

The state-of-the art facility includes a players' lounge and academic center, Sport Performance strength center, locker rooms for Lamar Football and visiting opponents, an equipment room, meeting rooms, athletic training suite, and the team auditorium.

The complex also contains offices for Lamar University Athletic senior staff members and the Charline and Robin Dauphin Football Office Suite, in honor of their $200,000 gift through the Sidney and Charline Dauphin Foundation.
