Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll Get Acrobat Reader

BEAUMONT - Academic All-District 7 punter Kollin Kahler headlines a list of 67 Lamar University student-athletes who were recognized on the Fall 2012 Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll released by the league office today.

A junior from Waco, Kahler was also named to the 2012 Southland Conference All-Academic Football Team after posting a 3.81 grade point average in the fall. The football team placed 24 members on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, with seniors Jeremy Kirt and Joe Viator finishing with 4.00 GPAs.

The fall honor roll includes student-athletes who took part in men's and women's cross country, football, volleyball and women's soccer. The honor roll is released within 30 days at the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters, recognizing student-athletes who maintained a minimum 3.00 grade point average.

Of the 67 student-athletes recognized by the conference, Lamar was third in the 10-team league with 16 posting a perfect 4.00 GPA.

The LU soccer team, which finished second during the 2012 regular season, had five members with perfect GPAs of the 18 recognized by the conference. Included on the list from women's soccer was all-conference and All-Central Region performer Kristin Bos (3.83 GPA).

The men's cross country team landed eight on the list with Sam Bradley, Michael Kershaw and Joe Wade registering 4.00 GPAs. All-conference performer Claire Miles (4.00 GPA) led the women's cross country team as six female harriers were recognized, including perfect semesters from Rebecca Gough, Angela LaBorde and Nora-Beth Saunders.

Rounding out the fall honor roll were 11 members of the LU volleyball team. Senior Sierra Whittaker and sophomore Megan Schwartz each finished with 4.00 grade point averages.
