Lamar University will honor former Cardinal athletes at a tailgate party Saturday, April 21, at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

The Office of Alumni Affairs will host the event beginning at 1 p.m., before the baseball Cardinals take on the Islanders of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m.

"Lamar University's baseball Cardinals are a constant presence at the top of the Southland Conference standings - and a sure bet for great baseball anytime they take the field," said Juan Zabala, Lamar's director of alumni affairs. "Join Lamar University alumni in supporting our baseball team as the Cards take on their newest conference rivals.

"The long history of excellence in athletics at Lamar is always a cause for celebration," Zabala said. "We hope our friends throughout Southeast Texas will help us honor Lamar's tradition of superior athletes at the tailgate party before the game."

The menu will feature classic tailgate fare, Zabala said.
