BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar football standouts Logan Moss and Kade Harrington were guest speakers Monday at the Do The Write Thing Texas banquet which honored local middle school students for their essays promoting anti-violence and anti-bullying.

The Do The Write Thing is a program that honors 17 local middle school (6th-8th grade) students in Region V, and was sponsored by the Lamar Department of Social Work. The winners were selected based on essays they had written about anti-violence from their own personal experiences. Within the essays, students communicate how violence has affected them, as well as recommending solutions.

Two students from Region V will be selected as national finalist and receive a trip to Washington D.C. to read their essay to Supreme Court Justices and recorded in the Library of Congress.

Prior to speaking at the banquet, Moss and Harrington met with the kids in the hospitality room and had their pictures taken with the students.

In addition to being recognized at the banquet, all 17 students and their teachers, received tickets to a Lamar football game, as well as autographed footballs from Lamar.
