List of LU student-athletes
BEAUMONT, Texas - Led by Joe Wade, the Southland Conference's Student-Athlete of the Year in both men's indoor track and outdoor track, Lamar University placed 83 student-athletes on the SLC Commissioner's Spring 2013 Academic Honor Roll.
Wade, a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in family & consumer sciences, was one of 19 Lamar student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during the spring semester. Wade, a native of Isle of Wight England, had the fastest times in the conference for the 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs as well as the steeplechase.
The honor roll includes student-athletes who participated in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.
Softball had five players with perfect GPAs, the most of any Lamar sport. Softball players earning a 4.0 GPA were Candyce Carter, Baylie Comeaux, Casey Cromwell, Taylor Duck and Melissa Smith. Overall, softball had 15 players on the honor roll.
Women's track had four student-athletes with a perfect GPA: Beatrice Douglas, Becky Gough, Claire Miles and Nora-Beth Saunders. As a team, women's track had 11 student-athletes on the honor roll.
Wade was one of four members of the men's track team with a perfect GPA. He was joined by Sam Bradley, Matt Johnsen and Sam Stabler. The men's track team had nine student-athletes on the honor roll.
Baseball led Lamar with 18 players on the honor roll, led by Eric Harrington with a perfect GPA. The Southland Conference champion women's golf team had six players on the honor roll, led by Stina Resen's 4.0 GPA. The men's golf team had five student-athletes honored, led by Erik Knudsen with a perfect GPA.
Chantelle Brockett's 4.0 GPA led six Lamar women's basketball student-athletes on the honor roll. Carolina Salas had a 4.0 GPA to lead five members of the women's tennis team on the honor roll. Carl Philip Lindqvist had a 4.0 GPA, as he was one of three members of the men's tennis team on the honor roll. The men's basketball team had four student-athletes on the honor roll.
