The Cardinal Club garnered more than 200 members and raised over $50,000 during its 2nd Annual Phon-a-thon, which was held in the Cardinal Club Room of the Montagne Center on July 19. This was the second straight year the one-day event met the $50,000 mark.

"The event was terrific! The numbers are still coming in, but I think when the totals are competed we will see that we surpassed last year's numbers," said Assistant Athletics Director for Development Brad McGowan. "The volunteers did a great job. They were excited to help and we were excited to have them. They made this event successful!"

Each year it costs over $1,000,000 for the University to fund scholarships for student-athletes. Since state funds cannot help with that cost, donations from alumni and local supporters are vital to the success of Lamar Athletics. To join, please contact the Athletic Development Office at 880-2319.
