BEAUMONT - The Lamar University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be holding the second-annual canned food scavenger hunt on Monday, October 15 at 6 p.m. to collect canned goods that will be distributed to the Southeast Texas Food Bank.

SAAC, which includes members from all of Lamar's athletic teams, has coordinated the scavenger hunt to include all of LU's athletes. Athletes will meet at Rogers Park at the corner of Dowlen and Gladys at 6 p.m. and be split into small groups. Each group will receive a map of the area and a list of canned goods to collect.

The canned goods collected during Monday's scavenger hunt will be given to the Southeast Texas Food Bank on Tuesday evening as part of a presentation during Big Red Mania. Last year the SAAC scavenger hunt collected over 1,400 pounds of food.

The SAAC offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes lives. The SAAC is dedicated to promoting a positive student-athlete image within the athletic programs and creating the executive leaders of tomorrow.

The mission of the NCAA and Lamar University's SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.
