Lamar football fans will have the opportunity to cheer on the Cardinals, while at the same time thanking the brave men and women who serve in the different branches of the United States Military when LU hosts Nicholls State Saturday. The game is slated to kickoff at 6 p.m. from Provost Umphrey Stadium.

Saturday is Military Appreciation Day on the Lamar campus. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard will perform the pre-game coin toss. In addition, a U.S. Coast Guard member will also receive the game ball.

The recognition of the U.S. military will continue at halftime. The pride of southeast Texas, the Lamar Marching Band, will perform a special tribute to the military. Current active duty members and retired military personnel will receive free admission to the game with a valid ID.

In addition to recognizing the military, Saturday's contest will also serve as Breast Cancer Awareness. Members of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will be on hand to give away pink ribbons. The Cardinal football team will also be wearing pink tape and wristbands to help raise awareness for breast cancer.

Prior to kickoff, Longneck Road will be performing at the northwest corner of the Montagne Center. The concert is slated to begin at 4 p.m. and will last until approximately 5:30 p.m.

The Kids' Zone will once again be open to children 12 and under beginning at 3:30 p.m. The LU baseball and softball teams will be on hand in the Kids' Zone to sign autographs and paint faces. The Kids' Zone is located at the practice fields south of Provost Umphrey Stadium.
