BEAUMONT, Texas -
Fresh off their exciting last second victory over Stephen F. Austin, the Lamar Cardinals (5-6/2-4 Southland) will look to end the season with consecutive victories as they prepare to face rival McNeese State Saturday at Provost Umphrey Stadium. The game is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff but there will be several events taking place around the stadium prior to kick.
Flint Hills Resources-Port Arthur is the official game sponsor for Saturday's game. There will be mini football and koozie giveaways at the stadium prior to kickoff, and Matt Fracht will be in concert beginning at 4 p.m. located at the northwest corner of Provost Umphrey Stadium. The concert will last until 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
The Kids' Zone once again will open at 3:30 p.m., and will be located at the practice fields south of the stadium. Children ages 12 and younger are invited to come participate in the Kids' Zone. The Cardinal mascots will also be making an appearance in the Kids' Zone. For fans who would like to enjoy more fun tailgating Lamar will keep it open until midnight following the game.
Both teams enter Saturday's game with a lot riding on the contest. The Cowboys are fighting for a share of the Southland Conference title, while the Cardinals are looking to set another record in what has been a record-setting season. Lamar has set 20 records in 2013 and if they can close out the season with a win over rival McNeese State, they would set a program record for wins since bringing football back to Beaumont.
