"The 2013 Lamar Cardinals Chili Cook-Off is a great way to give our fans an opportunity to come together as one while at the same time enjoy a variety of great chili," said assistant director of marketing and promotions Michael Wilkinson. "We have over twenty teams signed up to participate in this event, and we expect them all to bring an outstanding product to the table."
Tickets to participate in the chili tasting are $10, and will be sold at gate 1 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The cost of the tickets will allow participants to taste chili from 10 different teams. The trophy presentations for "fans choice" and "judges choice" winners will take place on the field during Lamar's game against McNeese State.
The chili cook-off is presented by Alpha Tau Omega Alumni Association. Proceeds from the cook-off go to benefit the Lady Cardinal soccer team.
"The Alpha Tau Omega Alumni Association has been an outstanding partner of Lamar Athletics, and we look forward to hosting another successful event with them," said Wilkinson.
"With the re-emergence of greek life at Lamar set to take off we are pleased to do this fundraiser for the Lamar soccer team and we look forward to other organizations and groups jumping on board and really help take Lamar to the next level," added Lee Potter, from Alpha Tau Omega Alumni Association.
