Christina Fanning joined the Lamar Athletic Department December 2011. She works as the assistant athletics trainer and clinical coordinator/instructor. Her primary sport responsibility is women's basketball and secondary responsibility is refining and developing the Lamar Athletic Training Internship Program.
Prior to becoming a member of the Lamar staff, Fanning was the assistant athletic trainer/instructor at Wheeling Jesuit University for 3½ years. She also served as the unofficial strength and conditioning coach for the women's soccer team and volunteered for the Wheeling Wildcats of the Continental Indoor Football League.
Fanning, who was raised in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area,earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training and a master's degree in exercise science and health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania, and subsequently was nationally certified. Fanning began her career in the Pittsburgh area, working as an intern athletic training student for the Pittsburgh Passions semi-professional women's football team, Allegheny General Hospital's club gym and Herron Recreational Fitness Center as the head group fitness instructor.
Fanning has attained certifications in Pilates, CPR/AED, NASM corrective exercise specialist, NASM performance enhancement specialist, lifeguarding and the Steven Covey 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Fanning loves cooking, canoeing, weight training and spending time with family and her Weimaraner, Leonidas.
