SURPRISE, Ariz. - After a standout junior season, Lamar baseball standout Jonathan Dziedzic has elected to join the Kansas City Royals organization after getting picked in the 13^th round during this past weekend's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

BEAUMONT - The Lamar women's tennis program will continue to boast of an international flair in 2013-14 as all four soon-to-be Lady Cardinals will make the trek from Europe to Beaumont this fall.

FRISCO - If the 1970s established Lamar as a baseball power in the Southland Conference, the 1980s certainly continued that tradition as the Jim Gilligan-led Cardinals took home three championships in the decade, and on Tuesday, the league honored the achievement, naming seven players to the All-Decade team and Gilligan as the Co-Coach of the Decade.

NEW YORK - Jonathan Dziedzic became the highest Lamar draft pick since 2007 on Saturday and Darian Johnson followed him later in the afternoon as the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft concluded.

FRISCO - A day after placing six on the Southland Conference's 1960s All-Decade Team, Lamar was once again recognized for its impressive baseball history as the school had 11 players on the 1970s All-Decade squad with Jim Gilligan earning recognition as one of the coaches of the decade.
