Lamar Athletic Training
As health care research increases and athletic competition becomes more intense, it is the job of the athletic trainer to maintain a balance of safety for the athlete while maintaining a peak level of performance. Through utilizing the latest in rehabilitation and treatment options, as well as expanding our knowledge base, we look to keep our student-athletes at the top of their athletic abilities. Athletic Training is a field recognized and approved by the American Medical Association. Although traditionally associated with athletic injuries, Athletic Training has grown to include a wide variety of aspects, ranging from initial injury evaluations, rehabilitation, and prevention of injuries to the now common administration, education, and continuing education factors. Lamar University also supports an athletic training internship program. The athletic training program has a rich history and numerous graduates spread across the United States and working in many settings, including high school and collegiate athletic training, clinic and physician extender roles, and even at the professional ranks in the National Football League.
