DID YOU KNOW?

How will my contribution to the Cardinal Club support Lamar Athletics?
100% of member contributions go directly to support Lamar Athletics. Student athlete scholarships are among the highest priority, with funds also being used towards facility enhancements and student athlete recruitment efforts.

Is my contribution tax deductible?
Under application provisions of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), the amount of the contribution that is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of the amount contributed over the value of any goods or services provided to the donor by the University. See your tax consultant for details.

Does my company's matching gift count towards my Cardinal Club Membership?
Yes. If your company/organization has a matching gift program, their match will count towards your membership level. You simply need to complete your company's matching gift form and send it in with your contribution. Please be aware that match amounts are NOT tax deductible, and that some companies do not match gifts to athletics.

I am a member of the Lamar University Alumni Association. Do my membership dues count as a gift to the Cardinal Club?
No. The Lamar University Alumni Association is an independent membership organization, and alumni membership dues do not count towards a Cardinal Club membership.

What is the cost for an athletic scholarship?
An in-state scholarship for 2009-2010 is valued at $12,334. An out-of-state scholarship for 2009-2010 is valued at $23,298. And, scholarship costs may rise for the 2010-2011 year.

Do I have to pay for my membership upfront?
No. The Cardinal Club has several payment plans available for its members (bi-annual, quarterly, and monthly).

If I become a member of the Cardinal Club, will my donation go to general athletics or can I direct my gift to a specific sport?
As a member, you have the option of directing your contribution to the general athletic fund, a specific sport(s), or a combination of the two. By directing your contribution to the general athletic fund, it allows the athletic department to direct scholarship funds to the areas they are most needed from year-to-year.

2010 Football Season Ticket Option
Lamar University Athletics recognizes and rewards donors who have been committed to supporting the department and its student-athletes. To honor that dedication, the Cardinal Club has included a football season ticket option for its members.

By making your undesignated gift to the Cardinal Club at the Letter Winner or above levels, you will be provided the opportunity to purchase 2010 football season tickets in one of the two premium seating sections within Provost-Umphrey Stadium. Joining the Cardinal Club will be your only entry point to purchasing season tickets in these premium seating sections. For example, if you join the Cardinal Club at the Big Red level, as a part of your membership you will be provided the opportunity to purchase up to (2) two tickets in the Gold seating section, or (4) four tickets in the Red seating section. Members who decide to purchase seats in these sections will be asked to make a 3- year commitment, which includes an annual contribution to the Cardinal Club and an annual season ticket purchase. The 3-year commitment will guarantee ticket holders the same great seats for the entire three years. Joining the Cardinal Club is not a guarantee of season ticket availability. Football season ticket pricing will become available prior to being released for sale.

Your Cardinal Club membership comes with other great benefi ts (invitations to events, inside news and information, etc.), and is a unique vessel allowing fans, alumni, students and parents to become involved in the growing tradition that is...Lamar University Athletics!!
