The mission of the Lamar University Strength & Conditioning Department is to create an environment conducive to winning by maximizing athletic performance and minimizing the risk of injury. Our goal is to design and implement strength and conditioning programs specific to the demands of each sport and to each student-athlete's specific needs.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING PHILOSOPHY
The Lamar University Strength & Conditioning Department is committed to providing each student-athlete with scientific, position specific based training programs to improve agility, conditioning, flexibility, power, speed, and strength.
Force Production - We believe it is essential to utilize movements that require large amounts of force to increase explosive power/acceleration
Functional Training - We develop training programs that incorporate ground base-multi joint exercises that will transfer to better performance on the field/court
Full Range of Motion - Our athletes perform exercises with a full range of motion to maintain and enhance mobility/flexibility
