EUGENE, Ore. -
The Lamar University men's track and field team will have three runners compete in this week's NCAA Track and Field Championships.
Joonas Harjamaki will compete in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase. Harjamaki will run in the semifinals at 8:15 p.m. (Central) Wednesday. The finals are set for 8 p.m. Friday. Harjamaki, who won the Southland Conference title in the steeplechase, is seeded eighth. His fastest time this season is 8 minutes, 39.22 seconds.
Francis Kasagule will compete in the semifinals of the men's 1,500 meters at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Kasagule, who was ranked 94th heading into the regiuonals, is seeded seventh thanks to a 3:40.89 clocking at the regionals. The 1,500-meter finals are set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Samuel Kosgei will compete in the finals of the m3n's 10,000 meters at 9:25 p.m. Thursday. Kosgei, who is seeded seventh, has the fourth fastest collegiate time in the nation this season with a clocking of 28:32.62 at Stanford on May 1.
Lamar is ranked 30th headed into the meet.
