FRISCO, Texas - Nearly three dozen Lamar student-athletes in four sports were named to the Capital One/Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall 2008 semester as announced by the league office on Thursday.

A total of 30 Cardinals representing men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and volleyball were honored for their hard work and dedication in the classroom.

A total of 19 had at least a 3.5 grade-point average with six of those posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Four men - including 2008 Capital One/SLC Student-Athlete of the Year Samuel Kosgei - and six women made up the ten cross country student-athletes to earn mention, 14 athletes from women's soccer and six from volleyball were along Lamar's recognized group.

Presented by Capital One Bank, the honor roll recognizes student-athletes who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and have been eligible to compete in his or her sport during the 2008 fall semester.
