Lamar will face some of the top competion from the South Central Region on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Lamar University men's and women's cross country team will take part in the 20th annual Chile Pepper Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas, on Saturday morning at Agri Park.

The men's 10K race, featuring some of the top competition from the South Central Region, is set to go off at 9:45 a.m. The women's 6K race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The Lamar men are led by Samuel Kosgei and Francis Kasagule who have finished in the top 10 in both of their races this season. Kosgei took first place at the Notre Dame Invitational and second at the Baylor Twilight meet, while Kasagule was first at Baylor and ninth at Notre Dame. Drew Bean, Hillary Samoei and Frank Bwambale have also ran strong this season to round out the top five for LU.

The Lady Cardinals have been led by freshman Sandy Castro who has turned in their top performances at Baylor and the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Ala.

After this weekend the Lamar cross country teams will take on the Southland Conference at the SLC Championship in Nacogdoches, Texas on Monday, Nov. 4.
