BEAUMONT, Texas -
Lamar University freshman Katrine Vaesel will represent Denmark at the European Cross Country Championships set for Dec. 12 in Albufeira, Portugal. Vaesel will compete in the junior championships.
"She's very excited," Lamar coach Jake Stewart said. "She's been working very hard to train for this event."
Vaesel will be the only runner from Denmark in the junior championships. She will be the third Lamar cross country runner to represent their nation in an international competition in the last year. Joonas Harjamaki represented Finland in the 2009 European Cross Country Championships, while Sam Walkow ran for Canada in the 2010 Junior Women's World Cross Country Championships.
"It's a great honor for Lamar to have three runners compete at the international level," Stewart said. "We're very proud of them."
