Lamar Pushes Back Three-Game Series with Texas-Pan American by One Day Due to Threat of Rain
Feb. 9, 2006 BEAUMONT - With a high chance of rain expected on Friday, Lamar has moved back the start of its three-game home opening series with Texas-Pan American at Vincent-Beck Stadium by one day. The Cardinals and Broncs will now play single-game games Saturday at 1 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m. and Monday at 1 p.m. As construction continues to rebuild Vincent-Beck Stadium in the wake of Hurricane Rita, there will be free admission for all three games. The Lamar Athletics Department encourages the community to come out and support the Cardinals and to check the improvements being made at Vincent-Beck Stadium. Lamar opened the 2006 season by posting a 1-2 record at the UTPA Baseball Classic at Edinburg Stadium last weekend. The Cardinals lost to Gonzaga (7-6) and Northern Colorado (11-7), and bounced back with a 21-9 rout of No. 29-Oklahoma.
