Three days after suffering a ninth-inning loss at Louisiana-Lafayette, the Lamar baseball will head back to the bayou of Louisiana and turn its attention to a race for a Southland Conference regular-season crown with a three-game set at Nicholls State this weekend. Game times are Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ray E. Didier Field.

Lamar is 18-9, 8-1 in SLC play, and holds a half-game lead over Northwestern State in the league standings. The Cardinals have won nine of their last 12 overall and seven-consecutive league games. The Cardinals are hitting .311 in SLC games and have posted a league-leading ERA of 4.62 and fielding pct. of .974.

This will be Lamar's first trip to Thibodaux in two years and the Cardinals' roster features just four players - all pitchers - who have experience playing in southern Louisiana. Temperatures are forecasted in the high 70s to mid 80s with humidity levels in the upper 60 percent range.

The Colonels (5-22, 1-8 SLC) have lost their last six overall and 10 of 11. Nicholls State is led offensively by Brandt Boudreaux. He is the only player on the team hitting over .300, at .308, and is one of four players with 14 RBI.

Lamar will go with the rotation of senior Brian Sisk (5-1, 2.27 ERA), junior Matt Morgal (3-1, 6.21) and senior Tim Erickson (3-0, 0.52) for the third-straight weekend.

Nicholls is scheduled to start junior right-hander Jake Parrish (1-1, 5.23) on Friday, followed by Bryan Myers (0-1, 8.24) and Seth Webster (1-2, 6.85).

Lamar leads the all-time series 44-26 and has won 10-consecutive meetings.
