BEAUMONT, Texas - In cooperation with the, Beaumont Fire Department and Beaumont Police Department, Lamar Athletics would like to educate the youth of Beaumont on staying safe during the summer months.

The Lamar Baseball Team and `Lil Red's Kids Club, along with local safety and emergency agencies are holding a "Youth Public Safety Day," Friday, April 29th at the Vincent-Beck Stadium before the Cardinals baseball game against Northwestern State.

Public Safety Day will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Vincent-Beck Stadium parking lot and will last until 6:30 p.m. All public safety officers are invited to attend the game at no charge by showing their ID at the ticket booth.

The event will feature representatives from the Beaumont Fire Department and Beaumont Police Department, along with vehicles from both agencies. Coaches and athletes from various Lamar sport teams and Big Red will also be on hand to take pictures.

"Anytime Lamar University Athletics is able to connect with the local Public Safety agencies and our community of supporters to promote the well-being and safety of our youth is a great opportunity," Marketing and Promotions Specialist Tiffanie Fykes said. "With the approach of summer break, this event will be a good refresher for kids and their parents."
