BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University's Eric Harrington was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week the conference announced today.

Harrington (Groves, Texas), a 5-foot-10, 183-pound junior right-hander, pitched his conference-leading fourth complete game of the season Sunday, a five-hit shutout with five strikeouts and one walk in Lamar's 6-0 win over McNeese State on Sunday.

Harrington's effort allowed Lamar to win the three-game series and allowed the Cardinals to remain in the hunt for a Southland Conference Tournament berth. Lamar is one game out of a playoff spot with nine conference games remaining.

Lamar first baseman Brad Picha was an honorable mention for Hitter of the Week.

The Cardinals (18-24 overall, 10-14 Southland) open a three-game series at Texas State at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

LAMAR
