Lamar and the YMBL offering free youth baseball clinic
May 9, 2012
BEAUMONT - Lamar University, in conjunction with the YMBL, will be offering a free youth baseball clinic on Tuesday (May 15) evening at 6:30 p.m. at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
The clinic requires no pre-registration and is open to kids ages 5-16. All area youth are invited to show up for an evening of fun and learning with instruction from the Lamar coaching staff and current players. Children should come dressed to play and bring their equipment.
"It's going to be a lot of fun for us to get out there with all the young kids here in town and have them come out and meet our players," said LU head coach Jim Gilligan. "We're going to have our players at their positions and working with kids and then we'll have a hitting and pitching clinic as a group.
"We're doing it in conjunction with the greatest organization in this town and that's the YMBL. They do so much for this community. I'm proud to be a member of it and I'm proud that we can do something in conjunction with them."
