BEAUMONT - Sam Bumpers has continued to pick up postseason national honors, and the 22nd-round pick by the Colorado Rockies has added another, earning second team honors on the ABCA All-Central Region team.

Bumpers, who set the LU consecutive games with a hit streak at 28 earlier this year, is coming off a senior campaign that saw him earn Southland Hitter of the Year accolades. The Bourbonnais, Ill, native finished the season as the team leader in average (.361), doubles (17), triples (6) and home runs (6), and he got better as the year went on, posting a league-best .421 average in conference.

Bumpers, who first captured national headlines with a 7-for-7 day with three home runs in a win over McNeese State, adds the honor to a mantle that also includes All-American recognition from Collegiate Baseball.

This marks the second straight season that an LU hitter has earned a spot on the all-region team as former Cards V.J. Bunner and Darian Johnson were honored as such last year.

Last Thursday, Bumpers officially signed with the Colorado Rockies organization.
