Lamar's 2009 recruiting class rated 60th in nation by Collegiate Baseball

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University's 2009 recruiting class is ranked 60th among the Top 100 in NCAA Division 1, according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper's annual evaluation of the institutions as that level.

Coach Jim Gilligan's Cardinal recruiting class is the only one from the 12 Southland Conference schools to make Collegiate Baseball's Top 100.

The University of Florida attained the top ranking for the first time in Collegiate Baseball's 27-year history of the evaluations. Arizona State, which had the top recruiting class in 2008, finished just a whisker behind the Gators in the poll's point system.

Louisiana State University, Central Florida and Cal State-Fullerton close out the top five. At Nos. 7, 12 and 16, respectively, TCU, Texas and Rice are the only Texas schools in the Top 20.

Other notables in Collegiate Baseball's Top 100 are Texas A&M at No. 36, Texas Tech at No. 38, the University of Houston at No. 69 and Baylor at No. 90.
