BEAUMONT – The first three games of the Lamar Baseball Red and White Series certainly hasn’t lacked excitement, and the teams will look to keep it going this week after Red grabbed a 2-1 series lead on Friday at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
Red won the first game 4-2 and the second 4-3, but White made it a series again with a 2-0 victory to close out the week.
Red, which came back from down two in their final out to win on Thursday, has been led by the hot bat of Reed Seeley. Jacoby Middleton has been a force as well, boasting of a .500 on-base percentage to go along with a home run.
Jerin Spikes was the star on the mound in the series opening win for the Red, tossing all six innings and allowing a pair of runs while striking out three.
After falling behind two, White got on the board via outstanding pitching on Friday. Lance Warren threw a scoreless five innings with three strikeouts, and Chase Angelle came on in relief to record the save.
At the plate, Tyler Sullivan has been the go-to guy, hitting .500 with a series-leading three runs batted in. Jude Vidrine
has only recorded a pair of hits so far, but he holds the series lead in scoring, crossing the plate three times.
