DAYTON, Ohio - For the first time since the 1999-2000 season, the Lamar University men's basketball team will be playing in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals will square off against Vermont on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. from University of Dayton Arena in a First Four contest.

BEAUMONT - On Saturday, Lamar University knocked off McNeese State 70-49 to earn its first berth to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament since 2000. On Sunday, the Cardinals learned they would face Vermont in a First Four game from Dayton, Ohio.

KATY - Pat Knight's successful first season at Lamar University got even better Saturday afternoon at the Merrell Center as his Cardinals rolled over McNeese State 70-49 in the Southland Conference Tournament championship game to earn the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

KATY - Senior guard Mike James knocked down a baseline jumper with just over a minute and a half to play to break a 65-65 tie and propel Lamar University to a 76-69 opening round win over Northwestern State on Wednesday afternoon in the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.

KATY - After a 20-win season and a Southland Conference East Division crown, the Lamar men's basketball team will look to add a conference tournament championship to its list of accomplishments this season. Leading the Cardinals into the Southland Conference Tournament is a trio of senior guards who were named to the all-conference team Tuesday.

BEAUMONT - After guiding Lamar University to a pair of victories, including Saturday's 78-68 home win over McNeese State which clinched the Southland Conference East Division title, senior guard Anthony Miles was recognized as the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Sunday.
