Lamar Steps Out of SLC Play To Face Lyon College Tuesday

** Following Saturday's dramatic 49-46 win over Stephen F. Austin in Beaumont, Lamar steps out of Southland play to host Lyon College in its final regular- season non-conference game of the season. LU is 8-7 in non-conference action this season and 8-1 at home in those games. ** Lamar leads the series 2-0 with both games coming in Beaumont over the past two seasons. ** Lamar is 8-3 this season when scoring at least 74 points, 11-1 when leading at the half, 10-3 when shooting better from the floor and 9-2 when blocking more shots than the opposition. ** Lamar is 19-7 (.731) in February under Steve Roccaforte, with a .500 record or better each of his three seasons. ** Lamar is 12-2 (.857) at home this season with a 4- 1 mark in SLC play and a 8-1 non-conference ledger. The 12 victories are the most in the SLC thus far. The Cards are 46-12 (.793) since the beginning of the 2006-07 season. ** Lamar has won 19 of its last 20 non-conference games in the Montagne Center and has posted a 25-4 non-league mark in four seasons under head coach Steve Roccaforte. SFA Leftovers ** Lamar's 49 points in victory mark the first time an LU squad has won a game scoring fewer than 50 points since Feb. 26, 1990 - a 48-47 win over McNeese State in Beaumont. ** Justin Nabors collected his 12th double-double of the season and his sixth in nine SLC games. ** Lamar trailed by six points with 4:33 to play, marking the third time it has overcome a second-half deficit to win this season. It was also the least amount of time remaining of the three. ** Lamar snapped a four-game losing streak to SFA. It also snapped the Lumberjacks' five-game winning streak. ** The plus-15 rebound margin was the largest in league play this season and the largest margin that SFA had been defeated on the glass all season. ** The LU win helped complete an SLC West sweep as all six west division teams defeated their east division counterparts. Key Player Updates Anthony Miles - G Leads the team in assists (3.5), steals (1.3), minutes (34.8), 3-point FG pct. (.362), 3-pointers made (25), 3-pointers attempted (69), FT made (104) and FT attempts (137), while his scoring (14.0) ranks second on the team and ninth in the Southland. He and UTA's Marquez Haynes are the only players in the SLC to rank among the top 10 in scoring and assists, while both also appear among the leaders in free throw pct. and minutes. Miles has scored in double figures 17 times and has five 20-plus point games. He also has three double- doubles this year and five in his career. Averaging 14.7 points in 15 non-conference games. Justin Nabors - F Leads the SLC and ranks 25th in the NCAA in rebounds (10.0), while also leading LU in scoring (14.1), FG pct. (.521), FG made (5.2), FG attempts (10.0), while ranking second in blocked shots (19). Has scored in double figures 18 times, including a streak of 12 straight. Has posted eight of his SLC leading 12 double-doubles in the last 11 games and is averaging 16.6 ppg and 10.4 rpg in SLC play. He is tied for 15th in the country in double-doubles. Kendrick Harris - G Third on the team in scoring (11.6), second in assists (2.9), steals (1.3) and minutes (32.4). He has produced 13 double-figure scoring games, but none in the last three with totals of seven, six and six. Has missed his last five 3-point attempts over two games after making 9-of-19 (.474) in the previous six games. Series History This will be the third all-time meeting between the schools, with both prior match-ups coming in the last two seasons. LU claimed a 104-52 win on Dec. 29, 2007 and a 97-54 victory on Nov. 29, 2008. Two seasons ago, Justin Nabors led all players with 25 points, while Lamar shot 58 percent from the field and handed out a season-high 28 assists on 40 field goals. In last season's ball game, Brandon McThay and Kenny Dawkins combined for 45 points. A true freshman named Anthony Miles posted his first career double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Coy Custer had 14 points and three blocks as he made his first career start. About Lyon College Lyon College is 5-17 overall and 1-9 in TransSouth America Conference action. The Scots have lost six straight and are 0-11 on the road. Tonight's game is listed as an exhibition game for the NAIA-Division I school, which is located in Batesville, Ark. Their only other game against an NCAA Division I school came at Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 6 - a 78-69 loss.
