Lamar to Play at Texas-San Antonio in Tuesday's First Round SLC Tournament Game

BEAUMONT - By virtue of Texas-San Antonio's 81-76 win at Texas State Friday night, the Lamar Cardinals basketball team will travel to San Antonio for Tuesday's first round game of the O'Reilly Auto Parts/Southland Conference Tournament. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

UTSA finished the regular season with a 15-12 overall record and a 10-6 record in SLC plays to grab the fourth seed in the tournament. Lamar finished the regular season with a 17-10 overall record and a 9-7 mark in SLC play and is seeded fifth.

Lamar swept the season series with UTSA, winning 85-68 in Beaumont on Feb. 5 and winning 88-83 in San Antonio on Feb. 26. The Cardinals have an all-time record of 13-7 in SLC tournament games and have won the tournament three times - 1981, 1983 and 2000.

For those interested in traveling to San Antonio to cheer on the Cardinals, tickets for the game are $10 for reserved seats and $7 for general admission.
