Coy Custer Named To Capital One/Southland Conference Academic-All Conference Team

FRISCO, Texas - Lamar post player Coy Custer was among ten student-athletes named to the Capital One/Southland Conference All-Academic team in men's basketball as announced by the league on Wednesday.
Custer, who was named to the second team, is a 6-foot-10 redshirt sophomore who had his best season as a Cardinal in 2008-09, posting season highs in scoring with 148 points, rebounding with 102 boards while connecting on 54 percent of his field goal attempts and 70 percent from the free throw line. He appeared in 29 games with starts in six of the final seven contests.
He recorded double figures in scoring eight times and saw at least 20 minutes of playing time in seven ball games.
The Clear Creek, Texas, native carries a 3.23 grade point average in civil engineering and has been named to the SLC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll each of the past two seasons.
This marks the second-consecutive season and the fifth time in the last six years that Lamar has been represented on the league's all-academic team.
Barkley Faulkner of Sam Houston State was named the Student-Athlete of the Year for men's basketball.
