Clif Carroll named head coach at McMurry

BEAUMONT – An original member of Pat Knight’s staff at Lamar University, assistant coach Clif Carroll has resigned his position to become the head men’s basketball coach at McMurry University.

Carroll spent the last two seasons with the Cardinals, helping the team to 23 wins and a berth in the 2012 NCAA Tournament in his first season. Lamar won the 2012 Southland Conference Tournament to advance to its first postseason game since the 1999-2000 season.

A 2006 graduate of Texas Tech, Carroll got his coaching start as a student assistant under the legendary Bob Knight. Carroll came to Lamar after three seasons at Collin County Community College. Prior to his tenure at Collin, Carroll spent two years as an assistant at South Plains College with the Texans winning the 2008 NJCAA national championship with a 30-5 record.
