BEAUMONT - Lawrence Nwevo of Towson Catholic High School has signed a grant-in-aid to continue his education and play basketball at Lamar University, announced Head Coach Billy Tubbs.

Nwevo, a native of Lagos, Nigeria, averaged 11 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots per game as a senior. He shot 66 percent from the field. He was named Baltimore County Schools first-team all-conference and Baltimore Catholic League first-team all-tournament. He played for the Charm City All-Stars vs. USA All-Stars in the Charm City Classic.

A 6-8, 260-pound forward, Nwevo is playing on the Nigerian 21-and-under National Team this summer. He will be representing Nigeria at the Global Games in Frisco, Texas and at the World Youth Championships in Argentina.
