BEAUMONT - The second annual Lamar University men's basketball Tip-Off Dinner, which is being underwritten by Mike Fuljenz and Universal Coin & Bullion, is set for October 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Montagne Center.
The featured speaker is former LSU Head Coach Dale Brown. The second winningest coach in Southeastern Conference (SEC) history, Brown led LSU to 13 NCAA Tournaments and two Final Four appearances. He now tours the country as a motivational speaker.
The evening will also include a special presentation to honor the Lamar athletic teams that won Southland Conference championships during the 2006-07 season. Teams being honored include the men's golf program and the men's and women's cross country programs. The men's golf team went on to post a school-best third place finish at the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The men's cross country team finished third at the NCAA Central Regional while the women's team posted a fourth place finish.
