BEAUMONT - Matthew Barrow, Jr., who helped Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge, La. win back-to-back state championships, signed a national letter of intent on Thursday to continue his education and play men's basketball at Lamar University, announced coach Billy Tubbs.

A 6-4, 185-pound guard, Barrow averaged 22.4 points, 8.1 assists and 7.2 rebounds per game as a senior this season. He helped Southern Lab post a 30-2 record and win the Class A state championship, where he was named tournament MVP. He earned all-district, all-metro and all-state honors, and was named Class A state player of the year.

As a junior, Barrow averaged 27 points, six rebounds and five assists per game. He helped Southern Lab post a 28-3 record and a Class A state championship. He earned all-district, all-metro and all-state honors.
