The Lamar Cardinal basketball team's regular-season opener at Butler will be aired on Fox Sports 2 announced the Butler athletics department Monday afternoon. The game against the Bulldogs is slated to tip off at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Central time) from Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
The game at Butler will be one of five games among the first six on the schedule away from Beaumont to start the season. It will also be one of four Lamar games that will be televised this season including two on the Southland Network and two on the Pac 12 Network.
Third-year head coach Pat Knight has put together another challenging non-conference schedule for a young 2013-14 squad that consists of seven newcomers. The Cardinals will play games on both coasts, as well as games in every time zones and against four teams that competed in the 2013 NCAA Championships.
Lamar opens the home portion of the schedule Tuesday, Nov. 12, when it hosts George Mason. The game against the Patriots will tip off at 7 p.m. from the Montagne Center. The George Mason contest will be the lone opportunity for LU fans to see the Cardinals in the first two weeks of the season. The Cardinals will not return to the Montagne Center until Nov. 27 to take on Texas-Pan American. The game against UTPA is the first of a season-long three-game home stand which also includes Arkansas State and Tennessee Tech.
The start time for the game at Washington State has also been set. The Cards will tipoff against Washington State at 9:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. Central time).
