BEAUMONT, Texas - All home Lamar University men's and women's basketball games will be streamed live for free this season on Lamar's athletic Web site, www.LamarCardinals.com.

"This will give people everywhere the opportunity to watch the Cardinals," said Clint Burges, Lamar's video coordinator. This is a huge step for the university."

This is the first year that Lamar has video streamed athletic events. All home football games this season are streamed, and one home women's soccer game was streamed. Burges hopes to stream home baseball games this spring.

"I'm excited about the possibilities," Burges said. "Next season, we hope to include all home volleyball and soccer games. There's even a possibility that we could stream road games in the future."

The video feed will be enhanced by play-by-play commentary from Lamar's announcers. For men's games, Lamar will add the feed from the university's flagship station, KLVI, featuring the longtime voice of the Cardinals, Dave Hofferth.

For women's games, KLVI News Director Harold Mann, who is also the play-by-play voice of the football Cardinals, will be providing play-by-play.

"It's going to be a lot of fun," Burges said. "We're hoping people will take advantage of this opportunity. It's a great way for parents, alumni and boosters across the country and the world to see the Cardinals in action."

To watch a game online, simply go to LamarCardinals.com and click on the schedule for men's or women's basketball and click on the desired game, then click the icon that reads "watch." After that, just sit back, enjoy and cheer for the Cardinals.
