BEAUMONT - After opening the season with an easy 115-57 victory over Lyon College last Friday at the Montagne Center, Lamar University will play an intrasquad scrimmage Tuesday night at 7:30 in preparation for this weekend's tournament at SMU.

The Cardinals will open the tournament on Friday afternoon at 12:30 against UC Riverside, before taking on Portland State on Saturday at 3 and the host Mustangs on Sunday evening at 7. Tuesday's scrimmage is free and open to the public.

Lamar looked extremely sharp in the opening win over Lyon, including handing out a Montagne Center record 31 assists in the victory. The 58-point margin is the fifth highest in school history and the 115 points were the second most ever in a season opener.

The talented backcourt of Kendrick Harris and Anthony Miles each handed out seven assists as Lamar was able to get open shots all night long. Newcomers Brandon Davis and Devon Lamb led the LU scoring with 22 and 21 points, respectively.
