BEAUMONT, Texas -
Lamar fans looking to get more involved in the community during the Christmas season can do so in cooperation with the LU men's and women's basketball teams. The Cardinals and Lady Cardinals are participating in Tickets for Toys prior to their games on Sunday, Dec. 15th, and Wednesday, Dec. 18th. The toy drive will benefit the Women's and Children's Shelter of Southeast Texas.
A collection bin for the toys will be located at the ticket office entrance (ground level) to the Montagne Center (along Martin Luther King Drive). Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy will receive a general admission ticket for that game.
The Cardinals (1-7) will close out a three-game homestand Sunday against Tennessee Tech (5-6). Although the game wraps up a homestand, it will be Lamar's first game in more than two weeks. Following the contest, the Cardinals will fly to New York for dates against LIU-Brooklyn and Canisius.
The Lady Cardinals enter the week with a 4-4 (.500) overall record having split their last six decisions. The Lamar women will take on Missouri State Sunday in Springfield, Mo. before returning home Wednesday, Dec. 18th to host Texas State.
