After spending the 2010-11 year as a student assistant, Marcus Carver begins his second year as a graduate assistant with the Lamar football program.
Carver came to Lamar in 2007 after spending five years of active duty in the U.S. Army which included a pair of tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan.
A 2000 graduate from Newton High School, Carver will work with the LU defenisve line. While at Newton, Carver helped the Eagles to the 1998 Class 3A Texas state championship. A letterman in football, basketball and baseball, Carver earned second-team all-district honors at defensive end as a senior.
Carver remained a member of the U.S. Army reserves while studying at Lamar, ending his 10-year service in 2011. He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's of Applied Arts and Sciences degree, and is now working toward a master's degree in health promotions.
Carver married the former Kasey Stark in 2007 and the couple has a four-year-old daughter, Kenzie.
