HATBORO, Pa. -
Lamar senior deep snapper Chris Maikranz has been named to the 2013 College Sports Journal All-America team announced publication officials Monday morning. Maikranz received an honorable mention nod, which is the second All-America honor for Maikranz following his stellar senior season.
"I'm very happy for Chris," said head coach Ray Woodard. "He is well deserving of all the recognition he receives. I've been around football a long time and he is the most consistent snapper I've ever had. He never had a bad snap in four years."
One of the nation's top deep snappers throughout his career, Maikranz began to receive national attention in his final season. Serving as the team's deep snapper since Lamar resurrected the program, Maikranz never recorded a bad snap during his career. Midway through the 2013 campaign, Maikranz received an invitational to play in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl - an invitation awarded to players who scouts feel have a shot at playing at the next level.
In December, Maikranz joined teammate Jesse Dickson on the Sports Network All-America team. The Lamar duo became the first Cardinal players to receive All-America honors since bringing back the sport.
