PN-G's Harmon joins Lamar's football recruiting class

Feb. 17, 2010

BEAUMONT - Caleb Harmon, who was the Offensive Player of the Year on the 38th Annual Port Arthur News Super Team and a third-team Class 4A All-State selection, has signed a scholarship agreement with Lamar University, increasing the Cardinals' 2010 spring recruiting class to 18.

A 5-foot-10, 190-pounder, Harmon pounded opposing defenses with 298 carries for 1,832 yards and 20 touchdowns last fall and was also a first-team running back on the 2009 Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold Team. He averaged 6.1 yards per carry and used the second-best rushing season in school history to help lead the Indians to their first undefeated regular season since 1977.

"Caleb is a hard-working, hard-running back who had back-to-back successful seasons at PN-G," said Ray Woodard, Lamar's head coach. "He made some huge contributions to a tradition-rich program, and he's going to get the opportunity to help us get off to a successful start this year, because running back was one of the areas in which we needed help going into the recruiting process."
