Lamar Football Coaches and Student-Athletes to support the Beaumont Chapter of Jack and Jill Book Drive to benefit Washington Elementary School in Port Arthur

April 14, 2009

Lamar football student-athletes and coaches will be appearing at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Beaumont Wednesday, in support of the Jack and Jill Book Drive to benefit Washington Elementary School.

A January 2009 school fire displaced 250 Washington Elementary students and they are now attending five host schools in Port Arthur. This Book Drive is aimed at providing books and proceeds to those students and their host schools.

"Lamar Athletics and the Football program are thrilled to be part of this Book Drive," said Greg Treml, LU Athletics Development and Marketing Specialist. "Whenever we are able to be a conduit for a great cause and the community, we are happy to do so."

The Barnes and Noble Bookstore is located at 4155 Dowlen Road in west Beaumont. The Lamar contingent will be available for pictures and autographs beginning at 3 p.m.

To participate in the Book Drive, purchase any book at Barnes and Noble anytime during the week of Monday, April 13th through Saturday, April 18th. A portion of every sale will be donated by Barnes and Noble and used to purchase books for Washington Elementary students and their host schools. You can also purchase or donate gently used Pre K - 5th grade books.

Purchased or donated books can be dropped off at Barnes and Noble during the Book Drive or at the CUSH Magazine Office, Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. The CUSH Magazine Office is located at 3680A College Street in Beaumont.
