CHARLESTON, S.C. -
A week after having a running back named to the College Football Performance Awards Watch List, senior Mark Roberts and junior Reggie Begelton have been named to the CFPA Receivers Award Watch List announced CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. Begelton and Roberts are two of just 38 receivers named to list at the FCS level.
"We would like to congratulate Reggie and Mark on earning spots on this year's (receivers award) watch list," said Smith. "Begelton and Roberts produced a number of strong performances last season."
The Lamar duo ended the season as one of the nation's top one-two threats. Begelton and Roberts combined for 115 catches for 1,496 (124.7 ypg) and 16 touchdowns.
Begelton capped a breakout season by earning second-team All-Southland Conference honors after leading the Southland Conference in receptions in 2013. He finished the year with 82 catches for 858 yards (10.5 ypc) and tied for the team-high honors with eight touchdown receptions.
Roberts finished his junior campaign third on the team with 33 receptions for 638 yards and eight touchdowns. Roberts became one of the top big-play threats in the country last season averaging 19.3 yards per reception.
Both players added to Lamar's record-breaking season. In addition to all the team records that were toppled during the 2013 campaign, Begelton set the school's single-season record for receptions in a game (18) and season, while Roberts tied the LU single-game record for touchdown receptions with three.
