BEAUMONT, Texas -
Members of the Southeast Texas media got a look at the progress being made at Provost Umphrey Stadium and the adjoining field house Thursday.
Jason Henderson, Lamar's associate athletic director for compliance led the media contingent on a tour of the field house and stadium. Work continues daily on the complex in preparation for the Sept. 11 home opener vs. Webber International, as football returns to Lamar for the first time since 1989.
"We're right on schedule," Henderson said. "The good thing is that a lot of the work is inside now, so it can continue even in the rain."
Henderson said the new $1-million video scoreboard should be going up some time in August and that installation of the new synthetic turf field should begin in the next few weeks.
