BEAUMONT - Lamar University football coach Ray Woodard announced Tuesday that former West Brook High School star Marcus Malbrough is transferring from the University of Missouri and will be eligible to play for the Cardinals this fall.

Malbrough, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end, played in 25 games during his time with the Tigers. Missouri finished with a combined 18-8 record during his time, and played in a pair of postseason bowl games.

"We are excited to have Marcus come home and join the Lamar family," Woodard said. "I think he'll be a great fit for us."

A first-team all-district selection in 2007 for the Bruins, Malbrough recorded 47 tackles and 5.5 sacks during his senior campaign. He was also selected to play in the Bayou Bowl all-star game.

Malbrough is the second Missouri transfer to join the Cardinals for the 2011 season, joining offensive lineman Taylor Davis who signed in December.
