BEAUMONT, Texas - The offense put on a strong showing at Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage under the lights at Provost Umphrey Stadium.
Four Lamar quarterbacks combined to go 28-of-43 for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Caleb Berry was 19-of-24 for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Mossakowski also threw a TD pass for the offense.
Berry's two TD tosses were to freshman Kade Harrington, who ended the evening with five catches for 58 yards and two TDs.
"Kade Harrington has done a great job," Lamar coach Ray Woodard said. "He's shown so much out there, that I don't think we are going to redshirt him."
Woodard was pleased by the fact the offense did not turn the ball over during the scrimmage.
"That's something we've worked on," he said. "We're doing a good job protecting the ball. That's something we have to do throughout the season."
The Lamar run defense had a solid performance, limiting the offense to 90 yards and one TD on 37 carries.
Woodard was impressed by the outing from defensive lineman Omar Tebo.
"Omar played well in the middle," Woodard said. "He keeps getting better every day."
The Cardinals open their season in two weeks when they host Oklahoma Panhandle State at 7 p.m. Aug. 31.
"I like where we are right now," Woodard said. ""We still have some things to work on, but we're progressing nicely."
