Aug. 28, 2012
BEAUMONT - With the Lamar football home opener against Prairie View A&M set for Sept. 8, the Athletic Department is welcoming the entire community to take part in the biggest pep rally in Southeast Texas on Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Montagne Center. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with live music, games and prizes. The Cardinals' football team, the mascots, band, cheerleaders and dance team will all be in attendance and performing. "We wanted to get the third season started off with a bang and what better way to kick it off then with a huge Pep Rally and a few thousand of our closest friends cheering on the team as they are introduced to the public," said Assistant Athletic Director Brad McGowan. Admission to the pep rally is free, but a ticket is required. Lamar students, faculty and staff can up their free tickets at any of the on campus athletic ticket offices (Montagne Center, Setzer Student Center and Education First Federal Credit Union on Rolfe Christopher). Fans, alumni and community members can pick up their tickets at any Rao's Bakery location or the Education First FCU locations on Highway 105 and Eastex Freeway. Lamar will host five games following the Prairie View A&M contest. Highlights of the home schedule include the homecoming contest against McMurray at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 and a Southland Conference game against national runner-up Sam Houston State at 3 p.m. Oct. 27. Tickets can be purchased at the Montagne Center ticket office, by calling (409) 880-1715, or visiting www.LamarCardinals.com. LAMAR
