Senior defensive lineman Jesse Dickson has been named to the 2013 FCS Senior Scout Bowl Roster announced bowl co-founders Peter and George St. Lawrence earlier this week. The fourth annual FCS Senior Scout Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 21, 2013, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

A preseason second-team All-Southland Conference selection, Dickson is currently second on the team with 34 tackles, including 17 solo stops. He also ranks among the league leaders with 7.5 tackles for losses and 4.5 sacks.

Dickson is coming off one the best individual performances of his career in Lamar's victory over Grambling State. He was named College Sports Madness Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording a team-high eight tackles against the Tigers. Dickson was also credited with two sacks for 14 yards in losses and batted down two passes

"Jesse plays well every night and (Grambling) was no exception," said head coach Ray Woodard following Dickson being named player of the week. "He made a lot of key plays against Grambling, whether it was a stop for a loss or deflecting a pass, that were vital in the win. The great thing about Jesse is he never takes plays off. He is a high-intensity guy with a motor that doesn't quit. Jesse goes hard every play."

Dickson has played in 34 games during his career, including 16 starts. He enters the 2013 conference opener against Sam Houston State with 166 career tackles, including 13 sacks.

The Cardinals return to action Saturday, Oct. 12th when they travel to Huntsville, Texas, to take on the Bearkats. The game against the `Kats is slated to kickoff at 2 p.m.
